Asking for a reference

It is common practice in Bulgaria to give 2 or 3 names and telephone numbers of referees in your CV and add that references could be provided upon request. The prospective employer might call them and ask questions about you.

Since writing a reference is not something companies always do in Bulgaria, you should ask for a reference toward the end of your internship (and even mention it at an earlier stage of your internship) if you are coming from a country where references play an important role. It’s a good idea to mention what your future employer will be looking for and what your main achievements were, so all that is stated in your reference. It should include:
1) the time period, your name and the company;
2) description of the tasks;
3) assessment of your performance and your personality.
