- search for accommodation in advance
- get information on the internet and read advertisements in local newspapers
- contact partner institutions or students’ associations in your host city
- ask your internship manager and the former interns questions about housing
- be aware of the living costs
- prepare a budget
- try to get financial support (scholarship)
- submit a request for Personalised Housing Aid (APL- Aide Personalisée au Logement) to the CAF
- respect the rented property and the environment
- be aware that by living in a household or with a French family, you will get a better understanding of life in France
DON’T
- chose accommodation without visiting it and checking the state of the furnishings
- forget to read attentively the lease agreement before signing it
- underestimate the expenses
- live alone or in a hotel room
- stay isolated in the house during the weekends
- forget to follow the common rules (in case of flat share, home…)
- forget the entry code of the building
