DO

  • search for accommodation in advance
  • get information on the internet and read advertisements in local newspapers
  • contact partner institutions or students’ associations in your host city
  • ask your internship manager and the former interns questions about housing
  • be aware of the living costs
  • prepare a budget
  • try to get financial support (scholarship)
  • submit a request for Personalised Housing Aid (APL- Aide Personalisée au Logement) to the CAF
  • respect the rented property and the environment
  • be aware that by living in a household or with a French family, you will get a better understanding of life in France

DON’T

  • chose accommodation without visiting it and checking the state of the furnishings
  • forget to read attentively the lease agreement before signing it
  • underestimate the expenses
  • live alone or in a hotel room
  • stay isolated in the house during the weekends
  • forget to follow the common rules (in case of flat share, home…)
  • forget the entry code of the building
