DO
- get an ISIC – International Student Travel Card
- bring an adaptor
- remember that speed and direction signs are in kilometres
- remember to drive on the left, especially approaching roundabouts
- be careful walking after dark in cities and towns
- be careful cycling
- buy your train/bus tickets to major cities in advance of the weekend as they can sell out
- check how you can get to and from work from where you live
DON´T
- hitchhike
- travel in Northern Ireland around the 12th July as this is a public holiday and travel services are offered on a restricted basis
- trust bus timetables
- drink too much Guinness
- jump queues
- leave your luggage unattended on buses or trains
- rely on an identity cards in Ireland as there are no such things in Ireland and a passport is the best means of identity
- smoke inside pubs, restaurants or café's
