GERMANY | Emergency | DOs and DONT´s

DOs

  • Talk to locals and when in Germany do as the Germans do. They are familiar with local dangers (crime, health threats and other hazards) and know best what to do in case of an emergency.
  • Always call the police when something has happened. Witnesses are important. For this reason you should ask witnesses to stay or at least write down their name and address.
  • A mobile phone is useful to call help quickly in an emergency.
  • Ask co-workers and fellow students which doctors or dentists they can recommend.
  • Get phone numbers and names of contact persons in case of an emergency before something happens so that you know whom to contact in an emergency.
  • Copy the most important pages of your passport and keep it in a safe place.
  • Find out where the next consulate or embassy is.

DON’Ts

  • Do not leave your luggage unattended, especially in big cities (around the central station).
  • Hitchhiking; women should avoid hitchhiking alone.
