Nein, ich mache die nächsten 6 Monate ein Praktikum. |
No, I’m here as an intern for the next six months. |

Ach so. Hier, das wäre dann dein Zimmer. Wie du siehst, gibt es viel Platz. Das Hochbett lassen wir im Zimmer, falls du es möchtest. Sonst bauen wir es auch ab. Das Zimmer geht nach Süden raus und ist recht ruhig. Nur morgens kann der Autolärm etwas stören. |
I see, look, this would be your room. As you can see, there is a lot of space. We leave the bunk bed in the room, if you like it. Otherwise we can take it down. The room looks to the south and is rather quiet. Only in the morning the car noise might disturb you. |

Ein schönes, helles Zimmer. Was soll es denn kosten? |
A nice, bright room. How much would it be? |

180 Euro warm. Dazu käme dann noch Strom, so etwa 15 Euro im Monat und die Anschlussgebühr fürs Telefon. Also mit allen Nebenkosten etwa 200 Euro. |
180 € (including heating). Additionally you have to pay for electricity, which amounts to about 15 € per month and a connection fee for the phone. With all additional costs the rent amounts to about 200 €. |

Das finde ich in Ordnung. Kann ich die Küche noch sehen? |
That’s okay with me. Can I see the kitchen as well? |

Klar. Neben deinem Zimmer ist das von Lena, der zweiten Mitbewohnerin. Und gegenüber ist gleich die Küche. |
Sure. Next to your room is Lena’s room; she is the second flatmate. Opposite is the kitchen. |

Gibt es auch ein anderes Gemeinschaftszimmer? |
Is there a common room as well? |
| Lauren: |
Nein, da die Küche so groß ist, haben wir das nicht nötig. Wir haben alle genügend Platz um den großen Tisch und sitzen hier oft zusammen und quatschen über einer Tasse Tee. Hier ist unser Putzplan. |
No, since the kitchen is that big, we don’t need one. We all fit around the big table and often sit here together and chat over a cup of tea. Here is our cleaning schedule. |

Okay, und wie macht ihr das mit dem Einkauf? |
All right, and what about grocery shopping? |

Ehm … Lebensmittel kauft eigentlich jeder selbst ein. Aber wir haben eine Gemeinschaftskasse in die jeder am Anfang des Monats so 20 Euro reinlegt, und von dem Geld werden dann Dinge gekauft, die sowieso jeder braucht, wie Spülmittel, Nudeln, Toilettenpapier und so. |
Well, everybody buys his or her own groceries; however, we have a cash box where everybody puts in € 20 at the beginning of the month. This money is used for dish washing liquid, pasta, toilet paper and so on. |

Kocht ihr auch manchmal gemeinsam? |
Do you also cook together sometimes? |

Ja, abends passiert das öfter. Dann kaufen wir auch von der Gemeinschaftskasse ein. Fändest du das in Ordnung? |
Yes, quite often at night. However, in that event we use the cash box money to go shopping. Is that okay with you? |

Auf jeden Fall. Gibt es sonst noch Regeln? |
Absolutely. Are there any other rules? |

Wir sind eine Nichtraucher-WG. Rauchst du? |
This is a non-smoking flat. Do you smoke? |

Nein. Das hört sich gut an. Ab wann ist das Zimmer denn frei? |
No, I don’t. Sounds good to me. When is the room available? |
| Lauren: |
Ab sofort. Heute Abend spreche ich mit den anderen. Ruf doch am besten ab 20 Uhr an, bis dahin werden wir uns entschieden haben. |
Any time. Tonight I will talk with the others. Would you give us a call tonight, after 8 p.m., by then we will have taken a decision. |
