HUNGARY | Internship: At Work | Negotiating
During a negotiation keep in mind that, although bargaining is not a typical behavior in Hungary, it is advisable to be prepared to bargain, just in case. The first offer should be realistic but at the same time should include room to make changes in order to have an acceptable position for the final offer. For example, if you are willing to decrease your price a little bit your Hungarian partner will be more willing to accept the offer without any further negotiations because he will feel that he is making a great deal.
Management culture in Hungary
Due to the often hierarchical structure in the Hungarian companies, the decision-making process can be quite long.
The first aim of meetings in Hungary is to make decisions. Pre-arranged agendas are hardly ever used during meetings.
Employees tend to be individually focused and are not much used to working in teams, but this characteristic is not as true of Hungarian subsidiaries of foreign, multinational companies.
