- find out how to address people at work before you start your placement
- shake hands when meeting people
- take the initiative at work and be keen to do your job well
- get information about dress codes at the company or office you want to work for
- agree uponprecise work conditions, i.e. salary, conditions for receiving a personal bonus etc.
- find out the opportunities for professional growth
- identify the hierarchy of work positions at your new workplace
- find out who your superior is
- be assertive
- start negotiations with your business partner with a small talk and then get straight to business
DON’T
- talk about politics at the workplace
- have any racist, gender or sexual orientation comments
- share any sensitive information about the company
- talk about business matters outside your workplace
- exclude your superior with important information
